Confidence (as with humans!) helps dogs cope with everyday situations. Most of us hope that our dogs remain calm to stimuli like passing traffic, other dogs and people and are able to adapt to different environments, be comfortable around novel objects and enjoy new experiences with an optimistic outlook.
Some dogs lack confidence due to a negative experience, previous learning or missing out on their all-important socialisation period (up to 12/14 weeks of age).
By setting your dog up for success, encouraging new skills and engaging in games we will work together to build your dogs confidence so that he or she will enjoy life more fully.
If your dog’s behaviour has changed suddenly before visiting you I may suggest having a veterinarian check to rule out any underlying illness, medical condition or pain which may be causing this.
